The Suleymaniye Camii, is by far the most superlative and finest of the imperial mosque complexes, and also the second largest in Istanbul. Set in a composite of adjacent buildings crowned with over four hundred domes, the building's design depicts an important advancement in Ottoman mosque architecture, and is a master work of Sinan, who was among the greatest of Ottoman architects. Known as the mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent, it is a fitting monument to its founder, and is incontestably the most significant Ottoman building and a great landmark in Istanbul.
