Old Town Square is Prague's heart since the 11th century and also Prague’s main market place until the 20th century. Tourists and townsfolk gather in the sizeable 1.7 hectare Old Town Square to watch the 15th century Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Hall strike the hour, and see the life size wooden statues of the 12 Apostles rotate in two windows above the main dial. The Old Town Square is bordered by examples of handsome architecture, some of the leading examples include the Kinský Palace, the House of the Stone Bell, the Gothic town palace, the Štorch House and the fairy-tale Church of our Lady. The Old Town, the Lesser Town and the New Town with their grand monuments, built between the 11th and 18th centuries, convey the immense architectural and cultural influence from which this city benefited since the Middle Ages.
